19th century, a universal form that evolved with the melding of tribes in the Congo in the second half of the 19th century. 12 1/2” length with a medially ridged leaf-shaped point on lapped seam conical socket pierced with a hole for a securing pin. A war spear for the field. At the time wars were made for the sole purpose of capturing enemies for the slave market.
