Meiji, 1869-1900. 4 3/4" diameter. The bowl with curved profile and domed cover with profuse crisp gold motif of two turtles in a river and a third on a rock, representing the World Mountain. Very subtle gold aquatic foliage to the bowl edge. Green body color with red interiors. The turtle was a symbol for longevity. The theme was used at weddings and to honor the aged. Fine bright colors and exc.+ preservation.
