JAPANESE LACQUERED COVERED BOWL

$120.00

Meiji Period, late 19th-early 20th century. 5 3/16" diameter on tall conical foot. Domed top with matching flared grip. Black body color in and out. The outside of the top and bowl decorated in matching very fine gold (true gold) line matrix, applied with a single hair brush. The radial lines alternating about a degree, both plus and minus, from a true radius, resulting in a radial matrix over which are abstracted forms, probably representing degraded mons. Extremely pleasing composition which breaks tradition. Excellent plus condition.
