FINE VIKING SCRAMSEAX 9th-10th CENTURY AD

$875.00

The classic fighting knife of the Vikings specifically used for throat slashing. This example epitomizes that form with its broad clipped point blade and whittle tang which was set into a bone, wood or antler grip without a guard. The thickness is specifically intended for human flesh, 0.115" at the midpoint back, slightly under 1/8". A utility knife would be half again or more as thick. 7" total length in professionally conserved excavated condition with excellent profile.
