59 5/8” length. Tapered stepped cane haft encrusted from use. Oval section palm wood point with flared base, removable for transport. Basket weave base and socket. Early example, heavily encrusted throughout but undamaged. Whalers visited the islands during the 18th century trading for provisions. In the 19th century, many island inhabitants were kidnapped for forced labor in Australia.
