19TH century. 18 7/8” diameter of deeply domed form with a forward rolled edge. Mounted with four bosses to anchor the grips on the reverse. The leather now perished but the mounts intact. The surface decorated with a central panel of a royal couple, surrounded by a band of courtiers with a further foliate band filling out to the edge. Uniform gray age patina throughout. Some black oxidation along the rolled edge. Good character and fine display.
