RARE CELTIC MAIL FASTENER C.400-200 BC

From the same find as mail segments we’ve previously offered. This is a Celtic forged iron loop or eye which was anchored in the mail shirt and engaged with a corresponding hook for closure. A little over 5/8” length, horse shoe shaped with mushroomed ends for anchoring and expanded to receive the hook. Excellent preservation with remnants of the adjacent securing mail links. Very rare.
