17th century. Forged iron, 6 3/8” length with lapped seam conical seam. The base with a hole for securing pin. Elongated pyramidal point with rudimentary indents to the base, typical blacksmith “signature” embellishments. Brought out of Mexico in the 1970s by an American “picker.” Stable brown patina overall. Designed to effectively dispatch the unprotected natives of Mexico and the American Southwest and likely produced in North America by smith of the colonial community.
