SPANISH COLONIAL LANCE, 18th CENTURY

$235.00

Mexico or American Southwest, 18th century. Slightly under 8” length and made of bar stock as iron would have been imported at that time for economy of space. Open seam conical socket and long tapering spike with the seam of the socket extending as an indent along one face. Excellent condition with light surface rusting and traces of forging scale. Lances of this type were used to arm loyal natives who supported the conquistadors. Few of this size and to our knowledge, none of this construction exist.
