MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN RING, SIZE 1 3/4

$125.00

10th-15th century AD. Gilt bronze with 2.6mm band flaring to the ridged shoulders and raised with raised circular bezel engraved with a saltire with radials in circular border. See Ancient Rings, Polio p.109 for another example, lacking the central cross motif. This example, clearly Christian, blends the pagan symbols, wheel of fortune, as was often done during the conversion period, thus probably dating this example to the earlier part of the period. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
