Bronze, 2 ¼” length representing the width of the belt. Addorsed baluster form with transverse lozenge medial. The balusters are delicately engraved in floral motifs with remnants of sheet silver overlay. The back with four posts for mounting to the belt. One two-hole gusset remaining. Crisp with green patina. Celtic warrior’s belts mounted these plates for protection so they are in fact, a form of Celtic armor. Exceptional example.
