Rare club size. 29 1/4" length made from the duotone interface of the sapwood and heartwood. The top of mushroom form and the whole, as a smaller version of the knobkerry. Lovely patina with good evidence of use. Zulu War of 1879 period. Indunas were the representatives of the chief at the village level, with absolute authority, chosen from the ranks of esteemed warriors. Most induna staffs served as walking sticks while this and others we have offered are combination hand weapons and symbols of office.
