Pair, bronze, male and female. Both about 9' long. They represent Onile, the Divine Creator. The Ogboni Society is comprised of elders of the noble class. They serve in the Ogboni lodge, as judges in legal matters as well as political and religious leaders. The figures have attributes which relate to the function of the society as well as the divine creator and embody both. Edan are among the most important of West African sculpture.
