YORUBA BRASS CEREMONIAL SPEAR

Late 19th-early 20th century. 20 3/4" length, well forged of copper rich brass or bronze. Medially ridged leaf shaped point decorated in scalloped edge panels enclosing geometric forms. The opened seam socket in transverse zigzag bands. Excellent with fine rich patina. These spears and the oval grip brass swords were carried by attendants to the royal family.
