Found by metal detector around 2000 at Ypres (Belgium) scene of some of the most intense fighting with English and French bringing the German advance to a stalemate. Made of aluminum salvaged from ordnance. Size 9 3/4, 5.3mm flared to the rectangular bezel, chiseled in a bordered geometric motif, perhaps a cross. The shoulders with similar stipple motif. One with an additional panel below, thus incomplete, suggesting the soldier was killed before he could finish it. Surface adhesion from burial. Could be cleaned to reveal the full extent of the decoration.
