Late 19th century. Classic form as used on the Russell skinner as well. 5 ¼” blade marked I WILSON with maker’s marks. See The Sheffield Bowie and Pocket Knife Makers, Ables p.122 for the marks and identification of the maker at Sycamore St, Sheffield England from 1825-1925. The form identifies this example as C.1870-90, the period of westward expansion and the Mountain Men. Wood scale grips. Fine uniform aging, wear and patina throughout.
