Large example, 11 1/8” length with 6 3/8” acutely clipped point wedge section blade. Heavy turned whale bone grip of belaying pin form, with flared base serving as a guard. The pommel notched-saw cut partially with the chip removed, clearly done during its time of use. The blade with a keen edge, tool finished and thin for fighting. A working knife would be thicker and show repeated sharpening. The grip with very dark glossy patina and showing vertical shrink cracks. Enormous age character surely one of a kind.
