VIKING SORCERER'S AMULET NECKLACE, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

$425.00
10th-11th century AD. Just over 1 1/4” in height. Bronze shaped as a duck’s foot and intricately detailed with raised claws and connecting web. A burial at Viden, Denmark contained the body of a woman of wealth and status buried with henbane seeds, which have hallucinogenic properties, and a wand as well as other objects. From these, archeologists concluded that she was a seeress or sorceress.  Sorcery among Vikings was specific to women and considered a feminine skill.  The grave contained a necklace hung with three duck feet pendants very similar to this. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored, on a Sterling silver neck chain modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
