Forged iron, 3 5/8" length with cylindrical drum with thickened banding on both ends and loop end sliding bolt. The tope with a crest supporting a tapered tube housing the loose end of the bolt. Frozen with rust and the case with partial loss. Vikings took slaves to be sold, for ransom and their use. It was common for a Viking house to have a slave hut for one or more household and agricultural slaves, and it has even been said that Viking culture was based in slavery.
