VIKING MARINER’S RING 700-1050 AD, SIZE 9

$220.00

Bronze, size 9 with rounded face band flaring to the shoulders raised circular bezel of low domed profile with a crescent moon motif. As expert navigators, the constellations signified mystery and power to Vikings. The Moon was personified as Mani, brother to Sol the Sun, and is abundantly represented in Norse literature, art and jewelry. This ring had amuletic value, invoking supernatural guidance for the ship.
