VIKING FIGHTING KNIFE, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

$315.00

5 ¼” length, wedge section with a straight back and slightly dropped point. Broad whittle tang for embedding in the grip. Ritually “killed” by bending in two places as part of the burial process for its owner. Vikings were buried with their weapons which, as here, were rendered useless as part of the burial ritual. Weapons from burials are much rarer than those lost in battle or otherwise. Professionally conserved, with a Plexiglas display easel.
