Victorian Pewter Pint Mug

$115.00

C.1880s. Baluster form with flared base and elegant handle. Original as made in the Victorian period, cast but never completely finished. The seams partially finished inside and unfinished out. The bottom lathe turned inside but the base recess also lathe work, not done. From the film prop stock of Ken Paul Ltd., who supplied much of the prop material for English movies for nearly half a century and bearing his initials on the bottom. Doubly interesting for the pewter collector as these demonstrate the complex finishing process which followed casting of pewter mugs.
