VERY RARE TWO SHOT SUPERIMPOSED INDO-PERSIAN MATCHLOCK MUSKET

$2,900.00

This heavy military musket is mounted with a lock which incorporates two separate mechanisms by which separate triggers operate match holders with individual pans. Early attempts to equip a firearm to discharge multiple shots took many forms. This example illustrates one of the most basic and dangerous. The forward trigger must be fired first. Firing the rear charge first would certainly result in a burst breech which could be fatal to the shooter. While the principle is simple, the pressure of battle can easily obscure logic. This example comes directly from a Middle Eastern arsenal and even retains its original cork muzzle plug. Its condition is indicative of a weapon which has seen significant service in battle. 53" barrel length.
