Early to mid-19th century. See Stone p.665 and fig. 853. Heavy 6 3/4" recurved edge blade. Tapered faceted bolster and faceted wood grip with a flat iron cap. Matching scabbard with mushroomed edge throat. The back with a large spatulate terminal wood belt hook secured by polished split cane bands (complete). Good uniform patina throughout. The blade and bolster dark with some pitting consistent with its age and use. Worn at court by those below the rank of prince. Just the second example we have offered in 55 years!
