Over 1 1/8‰۝ height, made by the open face mold technique. Silvered bronze of elongated form with deeply cusped top and nubs at the quarter points. The edge defined with an incised line. Plain flat field suggesting provincial or colonial manufacture, perhaps Iceland. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, attributes of the warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored on a Sterling silver 18"åÊneck chain for contemporary wear.
