US M.1852 NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD

A good example, probably WWII with just the right amount of patina and character. Gilt hilt with USN banner on pierced oak foliage guard with virtually all heavy gold. Gilt wire wrapped shark skin grip. Original bullion sword knot.  29" broad fullered blade decorated with foliage, military and nationalistic symbols and blank panel for officer’s name. Blade excellent with minor plating speckles toward the point. Black leather scabbard with gilt mounts (gilt mostly worn). Minor blemishes to the leather only. Nice clean example.
