Civil War issue. Standard pattern (Peterson #44) with one piece hilt. 28 ” blade marked Horstman Phila and B opposite blade with bright original polish. Hilt excellent with dark toning. The sword was the only weapon issued to musicians who marched with the forward infantry and were sometimes forced to fight at the battlefront. Superior example from the West Coast collection which we have been drawing from recently.
