Styled after its European counterparts with 19 1/4" rough forged straight s.e. blade concealed within wood shaft with rounded pewter top (corroded). Wood grip swelled to the top. The grip and haft are covered in dark maroon/brown leather with transverse split cane basket weave bands. Construction exactly as seen on conventional Ashanti sword scabbards and hilts. Well worn with a partial wrist loop. The pewter tip indicates that this was carried like a swagger stick and not used for support. Surely a possession which brought great pride and status to its original owner.
