Bronze hilt with T-shaped pommel pierced with a triangle. The front decorated with line and cable motif and with interesting copper square overlaid to the bolster and include in the decoration. Perhaps talismanic significance. 8 3/8” doubled edged tool finished blade. Red leather scabbard built up and tooled. Leather fringe tip. The Tuareg joined Mahdist forces in 1885 in their attempt to drive all non-Muslims from Africa.
