SUPERB VIKING WOMAN’S PENDANT NECKLACE, C.850-1050 AD

$1,650.00
Gilt bronze, 1 5/8” total height. Circular, pierced and engraved with a spread-winged bird or bat. In Norse mythology, the bat was capable of bewitching people and altering their behavior, so this amulet likely belonged to a sorceress. Among Vikings, only women practiced sorcery.  The bottom suspends three pendants, each tapered with a spherical end with a projecting tip over tapered baluster. The center, larger and those flanking, matched.  Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
Item ID: B6372
