Bronze, cast, and chased in minute detail as the crescent moon with baluster tips representing Sol the sun and Mani the moon, the base formed as addorsed crescents with the terminals meeting in the center with addorsed ball terminals. The combination undoubtedly representing an astronomical event with supernatural significance. Double beaded line borders. The field with alternate triangular clusters with trefoil terminals flanked by pellet trefoils. Undoubtedly of astrological significance, now lost. Viking worship involved the heavenly bodies on which they relied for guidance when sailing. Fine quality.
