Mahdist War, ex Webster, Sterns, Detroit Institute of Arts. See FNS7471 for details. 7 3/4” blade of crisp delineation, probably made from a stolen file. Finely turned hilt with iron base encasement bearing W D Webster collection number. Tooled leather scabbard with basket work throat and fringe to the tip. Fringe largely detached but remaining. A fine time capsule as this dagger is in virtually the same condition as when it was collected about 1900.
