From the Tebu people, nomadic herders who joined with the Mahdi in the 1885-98 war against the British and Egyptians. This example is distinguished by its large size and scarcely seen fish tail scabbard. 9‰۝ wasp-waisted blade with offset medial, well-chiseled in stipple bands. Fine braided leather grip wrap and iron ‰ÛÏskull crusher‰۝ pommel. Fitted leather scabbard with iguana skin throat band and fish tail tip encasement. Minor blemishes only the leather complete and sound with good aging. Blade excellent for the period.
