Stanley Pool Knife

See Fisher #213. 10 3/4" well forged blade with waisted base and broad medial decorated with punches. smooth with crisp detail and mottled dark oxidation staining. Copper wire wrapped flared terminal wood grip. The top mounted with the iconic forged iron arrowhead shaped weight which distinguishes these. This example is the heaviest we have offered at 2pounds 12.7oz total weight! The purpose of the weights have been the subject of scholarly disagreement for over a century. However, as some such as here have weights of several pounds, we have concluded that they are executioner's knives as the weight renders them useless for defense, but assures maximum effect on an immobilized victim. This example is among the very heaviest in private hands. Ex: Baptist Missionary Society Collection.
