SPANISH CUP HILTED RAPIER

$625.00

Late 19th-early 20th century. This sword is a product of a revival of interest in antique swords and daggers which started in the 1860’s and evolved into an industry in Toledo, Spain which revived the earlier skills and traditions for etched decoration on blades. This example has a 24 3/8” blade. The first half is decorated in scrolling foliage both sides. The cup guard has a rolled and rope edge and is decorated in a broad band of matching foliage. The grip is wire wrapped in traditional form. Great overall form and genuine age character.
