SECONDARY CONFEDERATE OFFICER’S SWORD

$875.00

Rare example produced in Germany and supplied to Confederate forces through the blockades. Based on the US 1850 pattern staff and field officer’s sword, made without the patriotic iconography. The brass hilt with raised edge shell guard and truncated conical pommel. Wire wrapped ray skin grip. 29 ½” double edged blade, unmarked, as the makers, who were also supplying the North, concealed their identities against retaliation.  The scabbard has a plain tip mount but the ring mounts are as used on the US production. Excellent for the period and use.
