Knights of Pythias Uniformed Rank sword and scabbard. The premier sword for elite members of the Knights of Pythias. Brass hilt with lion head pommel and three bar guard based on the 1872 cavalry officer’s sword. Twisted wire wrapped leather covered grip. 32 3/8” curved plated blade finely decorated with floral panels, knight in armor, armorial shield and owner’s name. The forte marked MORAN’S HARTFORD CONN. John Moran was a noted retailer of fraternal swords from the 1840’s through the 60’s making this one of the last of his products. Gilt brass mounted plated scabbard with very minor freckling only. Rarely encountered and of fine quality.
