8th-9th century, England. Iron, 6 1/4” length with diamond section triangular form point and closed seam socket. See Laking fig.4a. Considerable original surface with scattered erosion from burial. At the time, just over half of England was occupied by Vikings and the balance by Saxons (Anglo-Saxons). Dating to the Anglo-Scandinavian War of the late 8th and 9th centuries in which Vikings succeeded in capturing additional territory at the cost of many defeats by the Saxons.
