Dating to the time of the Roman Empire and beginning of the Dark Ages. 9” height of slightly backswept form. Eared oval eye and medium thick tapered bit. Good excavated condition with surface texture and forged lamination. Dating to the transitional period when plate armor was still in use requiring heavy armament for breaching. A pole axe which would have been mounted on a haft of about 40” for two hand use.
