ROMAN THUMB FROM A BRONZE FIGURE, FOURTH CENTURY AD

$215.00
27.7mm (1.09”) length with finely modeled musculature and well delineated finger nail. Broken in antiquity with the end showing matching surface degradation to the rest. As it is broken at the thickest part, the break was deliberate. See  https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/29/giant-statue-roman-emperor-constantine-reunited-with-long-lost-finger for an account of the restoration of a finger to the statue of Constantine in the Capitoline Museums in Rome including a picture of the finger which is remarkably similar to this.
