ROMAN STRONGBOX KEY, C.100-350 AD

$215.00

In ancient Rome, owning a strongbox or jewelry box was a distinction which defined a person’s class. The keys to those boxes were worn conspicuously (and sometimes fraudulently) mostly as finger rings. This is such a key with a suspension loop for wear as a pendant. It is over 1” (1.05”) long with triple post bit and cylindrical shaft. It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt sterling neck chain for modern wear. It is gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
