ROMAN LADY’S SHELL PENDANT NECKLANCE 1ST-4TH CENTURY AD

$235.00

Silvered bronze, 7/8” (0.88”) height modeled in detail as a Mediterranean clam with longitudinal ribs. The Roman diet was rich in sea food. As well, the clam is associated with the goddess Venus who is often depicted on a shell emerging from the sea foam, a representation of her birth. Excellent with fine detail. The silver surface restored, on an 18” silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
