ROMAN EVIL EYE AMULET, C.1ST-3RD CENTURY AD

$185.00
Silvered bronze, 17.3mm, 0.68” diameter, modeled as concentric circles representing the “evil eye”. The sources of good and bad (evil) in everyday life were mysterious to ancient Romans. They believed that some had the ability to inflict misfortune and harm through a malevolent gaze. Amulets such as this were worn to protect against the effects of such evildoers. Silvered bronze, well detailed in high relief. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on a modern Sterling silver neck chain. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
