10” length, the blade just under 8” of characteristic down curved from with double back fullers to the left side and single to the right. The broad tang for slab grips, now perished, with a square rivet remaining. The sica is specifically associated with the Illyrians who inhabited the Adriatic hinterland, north of Greece and East of the Italian peninsula. The Illyrians fell to Roman rule in the second century BC and remained until the fall of Rome. This example is in stable excavated condition with considerable original surface to the blade.
