2nd-6th Century AD. Gilt bronze, size about 1/2 which suggests a child of six months age or less. Slightly rounded face band, 2.0mm width flaring to the shoulders. Circular bezel with a central cross of triple line beams, surmounted by a saltire. The custom of baptizing infants originated in the second century with the evolution of the concept of Original Sin. Rings for infants were surely a luxury reserved for the noble class. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored and gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
