ROMAN BODKIN POINT C.100-1450

$115.00

5 7/8” length forged iron of triangular section and tapered through its length. Specifically designed to penetrate chain mail and the leather or textile garments beneath. Found at Königstein Castle, Hesse Germany, and probably for a crossbow, though also likely mounted to a thrusting haft to arm a peasant. The castle ruins stand today with the earliest portions reduced to the ground floor in the 14th century and rebuilt and fragmented several times thereafter with several buildings in the town of Königstein constructed from the castle stone.
