REVOLUTIONARY WAR SIDE ARM, HANGER C.1760

$1,025.00
English or American made, this sword is typical of those carried in the streets of colonial America for protection as well as on the battlefield. See Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #107.S for a very similar example described as English C.1760 and #108.S, George Washington’s battle sword, identified as American and according with this example in details. 25 5/8” curved double fullered blade made undecorated. Brass hilt with reeded ebony grip. These civilian side arms are often referred to as hunting swords as many were produced with boar, hound, and/or stag motifs on the blades, but they were overwhelmingly carried for personnel defense in the streets and in battle as needed.
