Oval, 2 ¾” width with finger spliced birch bark body and wood base. Matching removable wood top with leather grip (broken short).  See Collector’s Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, p.227 #22 for an example included among shot pouches. Boxes such as this were used to carry numerous small items including spare flints and tinder.
