REVOLUTIONARY WAR HORSE BIT C.1750-75

$175.00

Iron, 10 ½” extended. The mouthpiece in two forged elements made with the use of swages. The hot iron bar was sandwiched between two forms or dies and hammered until it took the shape of the die. A slight seam line remains similar to the “flash” in iron casting, but the wrought iron composition is verified by the locking rings which were made open and forged close after cooling. South Carolina excavated find with some surface texturing. Ex: Schindler’s Antiques, Charleston.
