Brass hilt with stirrup form guard, each side with delicate scalloped side guards. Fine bone grip of slightly bellied for which is characteristic of American colonial swords. Serpentine motif silvered ferrules, 30 5/8” curved single edged blade with double narrow fullers. Classic Revolutionary example, completely made in America including the hand hammered blade. The guard of characteristically thin elements with the side guards of little if any defensive value. Delicate brass guards with fanciful elements are fairly typical of and unique to, American made swords of the Revolutionary period. Many examples are preserved in public collections.
